Today I call you Tree

Today I call you Tree

Today I call you Tree
I  linger
languorously
lazily
‘neath your outstretched shady limbs

Today I call you Tree
I listen
joyfully
wondrously
to your feathery, living song

Today I call you Tree
I harvest
bounteously
gratefully
your ripened homegrown gifts

Today I call you wood
this day
the Tree
died
in me

  1. I'm sure I left you a comment about this, Craig, but, where it is I don't know. So, I'll start again.

This is quite simply a remarkable good poem, especially considering it would appear to be your first - unless you turn out to be a published poet in disguise? I wouldn't put that passed you! You should be very pleased with this rather special offering to the world of poetry, I know I am very please that you finally put pen to paper.

I thought there was more here, but I cannot find them.

  2. Thank you for the very kind comments, John. Was trying to remember a complex scholarly poem about our relationship to trees, and thought I'd write the kiddies version. I have some grand poetic ideas, but little language or courage to put them on paper.
